Comprehensive list of 'broken' campaign achievements

First of all, I created this thread somewhat as a 'Jira Ticket' for the 343 Developers to look into:

In several threads on this forum, I've read people talk about that some achievements are broken, and that some even randomly unlocked when they shouldn't have. Of course, I cannot verify all of these reports, but what I can verify is what I've experienced myself.

Since I already played Halo: Reach on the Xbox (on a different Xbox Live account) years ago, I figured: Why not do it differently this time around, and aim for 100% achievement completion. As I set out my 'journey', I quickly figured that several achievements are indeed not unlocking when they should've unlocked.

As a software engineer myself, I didn't want to give up straight away and decided to retry and still unlock every one of these (even with multiple different and sometimes unconventional approaches), but so far without any luck (I've been 'debugging' these for hours already).

Please note that this list will be updated as I progress through the campaign (and unlock each achievement for that level), and that it only contains those achievements that I have personally validated to be problematic. This prevents 'false positives' when someone else reports an achievement to be 'broken' when they are (for example) attempting to unlock an 'normal or higher' achievement on 'easy' difficulty.

Either way, without further ado, the following list serves as a 'bug report' of those (campaign) achievements that I can pretty much guarantee are not unlocking as intended.

They've Always Been Faster
Halo: Reach: Clear Winter Contingency without setting foot in a drivable vehicle.

There are reports of this unlocking 'just fine', but no success on my end. Neither in game, nor on Steam or Xbox Live.

What About Bob?
Halo: Reach: Find and eliminate one of the hidden Ranger Commander Elites.

Mind the Skill Gap
Halo: Reach: Observe the logo of a buttoned-up mining company.

This one should be literally unmissable. Fun Halo-2 reference, though.

Generous Tipper
Halo: Reach: Beat the par time on Tip of the Spear.

Unlocked in-game and on Xbox Live, but the Steam version of the achievement is still locked.

Wake Up Buttercup
Halo: Reach: Destroy the Corvette's engines & escort in under 3 minutes during Long Night of Solace

Attempted on Heroic multiple times. Timed runs from the end of cutscene until the 'land on corvette'-dialogue: 2:43, 2:26, 1:57. Guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xaSkLlipQJ0

Halo: Reach: Observe a grizzy scene on New Alexandria.

I realize this achievement is actually near the start of the level 'Exodus', which takes part in the city of New Alexandria, and does not refer to the level of the same name. Guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4fjVl9lc0Sk

Front Page News
Halo: Reach: Find me in the club.

Stick With It...A Little Longer
Play a multiplayer or co-op game at least 3 months after your first game.

It's been days since the game released, not months. This shouldn't have unlocked as soon as it did.

It's possible you unlocked Generous Tipper on Xbox itself but the Steam achievement didn't trigger? That's how it is for me. On Xbox Live I can see the MCC has 1 more unlocked achievement than on my Steam Profile.. Generous Tipper

I'm pretty sure campaign scoring is bugged, after a while, any kill I do nets 0 points.

I think that might be intentional unfortunately, something to do with time bonus.

I wonder if they can fix that Generous Tipper.
Apparently 0,0% on Steam have it. It makes me not want to go for some achievements in case they are bugged, like Wake up Buttercup or so

Same here, really takes the fun out of achievement hunting.

I'll probably end up going for 50% completion of the whole MC collection since there are not only bugged achievements but a lot of really crap achievements also.

Ah, I was never going for 100%. While I can do the missions on Legendary solo, playing LASO or doing it under 3 hours is a tad too tedious. I could probably do it if I tried but Legendary on its own is already not particularly fun sometimes tbh.

Anyway, not as a reply to you but in general for the thread:

"The Guardians are Coming" and "Naughty Naughty" both unlocked on my Xbox Achievements List but not on Steam. "Naughty Naughty" is an ODST achievement (says in Steam's description) but it doesn't say so on the Xbox Achievement.

Also "Tank Beats Everything" didn't unlock for me. I did use the Scorpion but I am 100% sure it was not hit, as I killed every mob in the vicinity first and then destroyed an AA Cannon from a very far distance only.

I complete this anchievement alone (is very hard to do alone...) and is not unlocking in steam and ingame.

Also i complete a 2nd time and no achievement.

I have screenshots with the pelican and phantom.

This was an extremely annoying achievement, I had gotten so angry. I eventually figured out you have to do the pelican, then the phantom without calling evac or dying in between. So what I did was I pressed the button, got back in my falcon, turned it into a pelican, then I jumped out to hijack a banshee (once positioned correctly). Then turned that into a phantom. It took me like an hour (wouldn't be surprised if it was longer).
If you got both vehicles without dying or respawning or evac, then idk what's wrong.

I do the achievement again and nothing... 3 times in a row

Had several of these unlock on their own when they probably shouldn't have but I'm here because the par time for tip of the spear won't unlock at all. I've beaten it in 9:30/15:00 but it won't unlock in either steam or the game.

I'd like to add some campaign achievements that didn't unlock for me:

I'm Sorry, Dave: Played Winter Contingency over 10 times but nothing.
What About Bob?: Killed 27 Bobs, nothing.
Mind the Skill Gap: Stared at the building for a solid minute from different angles and closer but nothing.
I Didn't Train To Be A Pilot: It's literally unmissable since you destroy more than 3 AA guns during New Alexandria at the end.

And for some weird reason, Wake Up Buttercup and Your Heresy Will Stay Your Feet unlocked on Steam but not on XBOX. I don't even know what's going on anymore.

For this one did you make sure the marines in the falcon didn't help you shoot them?

I agree, I did one mission in Legendary and that's already more than enough for me, a very anti-fun experience.

Just got wake up buttercup tonight. I was doing the legendary playlist in coop and we got it randomly. We died a ton of times and didn't really go fast at all. shrug.
