Temporary Ban from Matchmaking

I just finished a game with a friend playing in the Action Sack playlist and, upon backing out of the lobby to do something else, I got a pop-up saying I was banned for a week. Nothing else was mentioned. It didn't make sense because there was no reason for the ban. I didn't disconnect prematurely or anything that might warrant a ban. I don't know why it happened but I was curious if this has happened to anyone else here in the Halo community? It was super weird and not sure if it's a bug or not.

Can you post a screenshot of the ban notification?
None of the auto-suspensions go up to a week right now.

And I don't think they've let loose another ban wave yet, but I'll check.

Even if I left in between games? I didn't leave early or anything the game had finished and we got our experience already too. If so, that's bizarre...

OP said he didn’t quit out of a game. He literally just exited the matchmaking lobby into the main menu. And even then, the temp bans max at 10 minutes.

As to your question, OP, I got no idea. I would think it’s a total ♥♥♥♥♥♥, seeing how inaccurate and ineffective 343’s banhammer can be. They’ve been know to hit people with false positives if other people’s words are to be taken verbatim.

It would be best that you take it straight to Waypoint or other 343 threads rather than Steam, unless our lovely mod has direct contact with the boys in charge of banning.

God, I hope they start throwing week-long bans at quitters. I have 1 or more people quit 9/10 games I play now, with some games even leaving me in a 1v4 to just get decimated by the other team.

Definitely take it to the official 343 forums on Waypoint, where you’ll have much better odds of getting help. In the meantime, you can still play around with mods and whatnot. The Halo Reach Evolved mod just had the complete campaign finished and it’s pretty dope :)

Yea, I've been there, now that is not fun...that's actually the kind of game my friend and I had finished right before the ban. Our teammate left and we got trashed lol!

If the lobby says connecting match and you leave it counts as if you left mid match.

I don’t see how, the back out option goes away once you start connecting to a match. He could have closed the game via a workaround but he straight up said he backed out.

This has happened to me once. The game can feel like it takes forever for it to get over. My team had all quit except for me. there were these two ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that kept killing me the second I would respawn. I finally got one of them and I ran and hid and waited for the clock to wind down. I can't imagine how infuriated you must feel for that to happen to you 9 out 10 matches. I think that I would have quit long before I had reached the point of it happening to me 9 out of 10 times. You must be the most unluckiest PVP player alive. LOL.

most likely banned for AFK'ing or Swordlining. They stated they're gonna start swinging the banhammer again for these in another wave in the last dev post.
