Back in the Day Achievement for Halo CE on PC

So coming up soon on PC when Halo CE drops, back on the Xbox One, there is an achievement called "Back in the Day", which is to "Play a CTF custom game on Blood Gulch with 4 players on the same console (or PC in this case). Tri-tip optional." Now here is the problem right now: you cannot do Splitscreen on PC on this game and can only be done on the Xbox One right now. On the achievement list for the game if you scroll through it, its on the list there (has to be for cross-progression, but makes getting this achievement impossible on PC since at the moment split screen is not supported. If 343 is going to add this achievement in on PC, this may be a hint that splitscreen is probably coming or otherwise if they do not add splitscreen, this achievement is going to have to be replaced with a PC only based achievement.

On a side note at the moment for Halo Reach, there is the Forge World achievement in Forge for saving a new map in Forge but at the moment cannot be done without a mod (but at least its confirmed Forge is coming soon so this achievement is possible to get).

But back to the original post right now, unless 343 is not committing to having split-screen (which I know several fans want this on the PC version), then why is the achievement in the list on Steam right now? Splitscreen would have to be coming to the PC version by launch of this game for CE so I am going to assume right now that its going to be happening and this may be the evidence that it is coming to the PC.

Yes and as DarkDullahan said it might be unlockable over LAN, obviously there's no confirmation yet but with the lack of split screen for PC it's the most plausible solution. Until the game is out and people can actually test it we won't know, but I'd rather hold on to the hope it would work through LAN also

I'd hope it would, cause halo was about splitscreen on console, and LAN-parties on PC, back in the day.

It was just a part of the game in my opinion but everyone discussed this already so.

We've pushed the concerns and issues of "Back in the Day" as well as "Generous Tipper" to 343, so they're at least aware of the concerns and obtainability of them and should hopefully address it soon.

An update to this post. 343 has fixed the Generous Tipper Achievement for Reach (unlocked it on Steam here) but Back in the Day is now a problem to get without hacking the game and will remain unobtainable without an Xbox One. Or until 343 decides to add splitscreen on PC.

they changed it so you just have to play a custom game with at least 4 players on bloodgultch

Wait what do you mean by this? Do you mean you have to get 3 other computers to get this achievement or 3 other steam friends? If so, then we need to make a guide about this since now that is going to be completely misleading on PC! I cannot get this since I already have it (or just use a new account) but would be nice to know if some people who don't have it to test this first.

just 3 other friends. They changed the description so i'm guessing you just need 3 friends and play a custom game

Your right! I do see a change in the achievement description, its subtle with the removal of "on the same console" which was the problem here. Most people who play on Computer don't want to have to cram around a tiny monitor with 4 mice and keyboards or gamepads (which would be the most suitable in this case) to play on the same device if this was kept. However I think 343 should still include splitscreen support in the future for this collection as it deserves it since the Xbox One version has this!

I can confirm it works. I did it last night with 4 people and it popped as soon as the game started
