And I'm sure many of you probably already know about this, but...

It's been revealed that 343 is going to Retcon the events of Halo 5. Someone found an audio file by translating a QR code shown in the trailer. Which says:

"This ... This is part of me," she says. " I don't know why ... I don't know how, but it is me."

Referring to Cortana talking about the evil Cortana from Halo 5. This is a nod to how she split herself into multiple copies at the end in Halo 4. One copy likely got all of her rampancy, or something. So yeah, Cortana isn't evil. And good Cortana will return to kill bad Cortana.

The devs doing a quick change to fix how badly they screwed up.

Can't believe I'm not eager for a new Halo game. I just realized how dark that is for the future of Halo.

I just want a good Campaign. So far the new Modern Warfare reboot has already taken my money because its Campaign triggers journalists, that's when you know its gonna be good. Hopefully Reach will have stable servers and a good anti cheat for Competitive.

Agreed on the not getting hyped until gameplay is shown things. As for it looking pretty, that’s almost a given with AAA developers nowadays since they focus a lot of time and effort on graphics, sometimes more so than gameplay. The reason I say “almost” instead of “always” is because we do tend to get the outliars every now and then (Mass Effect Andromeda anyone?)

But Halo, dude. Yeah, I understand feeling this way about other games...but I remember always being stoked about a new Halo. I don't know if it's because I'm older now, or what. It was just sort of depressing to start writing that I was going to wait for reviews in regards to Halo. I actually stopped typing that and had to reflect on how it was Halo I was talking about. It's bizarre to me. I'm not trying to come off as an irate fan boy. I'm a legitimate fan of the universe, and it just hurt to realize I'm losing interest in it.

Take it for what you will. As others have said, maybe once I see gameplay it will ignite that flame again. Or maybe it's time I acknowledged that my childhood is gone, and I need to put away my toys.

They're retconning cortana being evil, by saying it was another part of her that instigated everything in Halo 5, while she was presumably lost and asleep in a forerunner subsystem, or something. We're going to have two cortana's fighting each other in Halo Infinite.

Assuming the Cortana fragment theory is correct, it's technically not a retcon, a total one at least. There's still an evil Cortana, the one who's forcing peace throughout the Galaxy, but now there's a new Cortana, the CTN 043-0 model, in contrary to the CTN 042-9, which may either be our companion or a sort of trap or weapon, following the lines of the SPDR system.

Of course, it's a theory, and I won't hold my breath to neither this one nor any other.

It may have slipped my eyes because threads in this forum are usually blind. Always asking for a release date and everything and then other people asking numerous questions reguarding especially Halo 5. With that said, I apologize.

I never got to play H5, but from what I've heard it wasn't a lot of fun. I don't mind the angle of having an evil Cortana out there, I just hope they find a way to have the real / good Cortana be out there for Chief to find and rescue. I loved Halo 4's campaign, would love for them to reunite, defeat the evil Cortana, have the real Cortana somehow get an actual body and then deal with a new threat, either from the Covenant or something else - I saw someone say in another thread that they felt like it would be fun to have an evil group of humans decide to wage a war, just to have different types of enemies to fight, as well.

Thanks for the info. Having not played H5 and having it been so long since I played the Halo campaigns anyway (probably a good 5-10 years), I'm sure there are a bunch of details I've forgotten or am just completely unaware of.
