Random skeleton bones

Sometimes when I'm exploring the world, I'll hear and then see some skeleton bones rolling around on the ground nearby. Some will be empty and others will have an item or two in their inventory. I'm not sure if these are from skeletons I've killed/been killed or what? Now, it's been a while since I've played modded Skyrim, but I recall it happening then too. Anybody else experiencing this? If so, is there a fix?

They could be ones you killed or ones that were placed ahead of time as scenery. If they're rolling around without an obvious reason (like you walking into them) then it's probably a case of the physics engine glitching and/or only applying to them when you get close enough.

Yep, just some bone pieces blowing in the wind it seems, but I'll pay closer attention next time it happens.

Ha! That's some creative thinking. I like it. I noticed last night that the bones would spawn at my character sometimes...like when I left a cave or mine. While I don't know what causes it or how to fix it, I learned I can just use Devour Soul from the Sinistrope tree to get rid of them. And I'm using the following mod to get rid of the visual puddles Devour Soul leaves behind.

I'm guessing it's an engine issue. When you get close enough to objects like that, their physics get activated when you get close enough to them, and they start rolling down hills and bouncing around. Some other objects will do it too, like arrows, some bowls.. they start moving. The higher your framerate, the more it's noticeable too, it seems.

Its a common thing in Skyrim. Sometimes bones will just teleport near or on top of the player. Just be glad there aren't any dragon skeleton following you around.
