Epic games web page
Everytime I start the game, it opens my browser and the epic games web page and asking me to connect the game with my epic account. I don't want to do that, I'm playing on steam and the game is already linked to my steam account.

Why is it opening my browser and how can I turn that off? I can't find it in the options menu.
It's really annoying.

And what if I'm not interested in downloading mod.io or any mods for this game?
It still opens up every time I start the game.

Why didn't they put a button in the main menu, where those players, who are interested in modding the game can click it and then their browser opens up.

That's how usually devs do this. Never had this with any other game before and it's still annoying that I have to close my browser every time.

It's got nothing to do with mod.io.

The game offers crossplay for PC players over all platforms - Steam, Epic and Microsoft. Since the game is based on Unreal from Epic, the dev team used the Unreal solution to realize this feature...and this one requires an Epic connection. If you don't want to play multiplayer, you can simply ignore it :-)

It's hard to ignore it, when my browser keeps popping up. Is there a way to change it somewhere? Delete it from the autorun or is there an "offline" function for singleplayer, that prevents the webpage from popping up? To be clear, I don't talk about offline in steam.

I don't remember that the game did this a year ago, so there has to be a way to disable it.

It was only implemented when they released the game on other PC platforms

Nochmal auf English: This is the last time I buy a bus simulator from Astragon. If you're already using Unreal from Epic for your games, you should make sure that you can start the game without an Epic account. Since then, I can't start the game if I just close the Google window. I always get the message that I'm not logged in to Steam, even though I start the game via Steam. So it's no longer playable for me. This is the last straw. Epic wants to collect data from players and if you don't give your consent, you're not allowed to play. Great, and you support this too. That's a NO GO!!!!!

In regards to the 'not logged into Steam' message, try clearing the download cache in Steam's settings (something that Steam itself suggests if unable to launch a game) and also try verifying the game files.

The thing is, that there are other games which use Unreal Engine and have multiplayer/ cross platform where this doesn't happen. At least it seems as if their devs found a way to implement it, so that it doesn't force players to log into their epic account (considering that not every steam user have an epic account).

Nevertheless a game shouldn't open any websites without my permission.

This has nothing to do with Steam. If I accept Epic's terms, the game starts normally.

Now that I've removed Epic from my PC, I was able to start the game without logging into Epic, although I was told that multiplayer wasn't working.
