Turning Off PC Webcam Overlay
Hi, revisited this game several months after I bought it.

I noticed my webcam turned on during the game, and I can't find the option to turn it off. It overlays on my game.

I can't tell if this is a MK11 thing, an nVidia thing, or a Steam thing, but no other game does this. Plz halp.

Well, this game is kinda spyware. I just requested a refund. The latest patch employs an "anti-cheat" function, which skims data processes from your PC and even your Google Search history. So if you google Mods or modding or cheatengine for your SINGLE PLAYER ONLY EXPERIENCE, then it just crashes or refuses to open.

Source?

EDIT: btw OP, this game or any other game, have nothing to do in turning on your webcam, please scan your PC for virus/malware.

It's definitely not spyware, though I appreciate the concern. Spyware would activate the cam and not give me a massive overlay exclusively on a single game, and only activate during that game. Spyware wants to hide in the background, not immediately start during the game.

I do run scans for spyware every week, just to rule out that possibility. The light is definitely activated during this game and this game alone.

I would start by disabling anything in NVIDIA regarding streaming and then Steam and go from there. Keep checking off the list and if the problem persists, unplug / disable your webcam?

I've determined that the issue originated from the Xbox Game Bar, which recognized Mortal Kombat 11, and threw its own overlay on top of the Steam overlay.

So, I suppose "spyware" was half-right. :sans:

Nice that you found the issue, lol yeah Xbox Game Bar can be considered as Malware? :lunar2019laughingpig:

Anyway, I always turn off the windows game mode etc, is a practice I do with any windows installation so I never knew it could interact with a webcam, good to know this. Cheers.

Yeah it's the NVIDIA "Highlights" capture. Alt-Z -> Settings -> Highlights. Turn off.
