My point still stands, and that information even makes it better because QLOC fixed the initial bad MKX port.
The point is if anyone enjoyed or had no issues with any NRS PC ports since MKXL then there is no reason to assume MK1 will be bad just because NRS are not doing the direct PC port..
Ah got ya
You are not entirely right given your negative outlook because you have no stats or data to back up those claims, other then speculation. All prior PC ports have been great (MK11, IJ2, MKXL), so there is no reason to feel that this one won't do the same. NRS learned with MK9, Injustice and MKX launch that the PC is a HUGE platform and they got all of their PC ports afterwards up to snuff.
The switch version also has nothing to do with the PC version so I don't know where you are getting the assumption that they will be treated the same. The MK11 switch version and PC version are nothing a like and most people will tell you the PC version is superior in visuals alone to even the console versions. The biggest issue with the PC version has always been the separated player base due to not having crossplay with consoles. Everything else plays/look better then the console versions.
The only thing I agree with is that, NRS NEEDS to get crossplay incorporated soon after release to keep the player base together and then, everything will be even better.
What I can say although PC is a big platform, but it's underrated unless it gets crossplay with consoles then it will be equal to them especially in terms of support.
I still disagree with MK11 lacking in terms of netcode and players base on PC. As of now MK11 still has a healthy 4-6k player base (probably higher due to MK1 hype). Also regarding network connections I have over 900hrs in MK11 and if the netcode was as bad as you say I would have stopped long before putting in that much time into the game. Of course every game even with the best netcode can have crappy connections because at the end of the day the players own hardware and connection quality will effect how stable it is, but I have played thousands of games in MK11 with majority of them being perfectly playable with very low ping.
Of course your location and your personal network connection could make your online experience worse but as a whole MK11 is up there with the best netcodes in fighting games (now being out classes with newer games like GGST, SF6...etc). Ever since rollback was added in MKX NRS games have had excellent online quality in every game afterwards.
Once again we can all agree that MK1 with crossplay will help the PC playerbase A LOT, but I feel even without it MK on PC now has a decent size of dedicated players to play against.
even if it was 1k players, that is still plenty for a 1v1 fighting game. When you start getting in the double digits is when the "this game is dead" saying is really put into effect.
When I played MK11 alot, I noticed the more players are online, the harder kombat league became. When the game was dying down to 1.5k players I made demi-god like 11 seasons in a row. Just cause there are alot of players, doesn't make it better.
My partial concern is if there was crossplay on PC. Now I got to deal with those tournament players that are mostly on playstation.
Ehh that pretty much a non issue for me since I never touch Kombat league for the entire 900+ hours I played the game. I much prefer to run death matches (long sets until one player quits) because I learn quicker and its just more fun to me.
Ranked in FGs has always been toxic rage fests no matter the game you play, so I stick to casual/player matches. I did the same thing with MKX on PS4 with thousands of hours only in player matches to in rooms.
As for the tournament players comment, its ranked matches so the higher you climb the more hardcore/skilled players you will encounter, thats the way its suppose to be. Its not meant for all players to be able to reach the highest rank possible. If that one "tournament player" blocks or stops your chance to get into the higher ranks then the ranked system is working as intended.
FGs always function much better when there is decent competition on EVERY level of player skill, both low and high level.
When I got in the routine to play KL weekly, I notice I didn't want to waste time with kasual mode at all. That mode was seen as no-reward, no real progression. Many players felt that way.
So the only time kasual mode became popular was the week that KL season ended. If NRS wants a crowded kasual mode, I suggest they reward people there instead of KL.
The "reward" is getting better, overcoming hard matchups you may have had issues with before, getting those hard combos down to a T without dropping them while under pressure....etc.
There is more to grinding out a fighting game then playing for pretty much participation rewards (like in KL). Obviously people enjoy FGs differently. I personally get pleasure out of learning, getting better, ...etc, while others need the game itself to reward them for playing a few games.
To each their own, but I 100% disagree with your view of needing artificial progression to make playing a FG feel rewarding. Majority of KL players will do anything to win, from counter picking every match, skipping players that might make them loose points (cowards), not re matching when getting their butt beat...etc.
Modes like KL had created the most toxic, cowardice, and disrespectful group of players I have ever seen in the genre so since MKX I have stayed in rooms or casual matches, not only to avoid the children, but also to player more matches per sitting then waiting in a queue, just for a quick ft3 match.
I will always stick to kasual matches over ranked because being the best ranked player in the world will do nothing for me unless I was 100% dedicated to being a pro FG player. Its all for ego and bragging rights and, there are very few "honorable" players now who just want to play games, win or lose and have fun.
