You can get by without them... I never use them.. I know my devices better than a preset which is based on a brand new card.
lol
Now here's the problem:
"The blog also talks about work we're doing behind the scenes with digital game stores so publishers can tag their games for streaming on GeForce NOW, right when they publish a game. The blog also notes that games from Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, XBOX Game Studios, Codemasters and Klei Entertainment will be removed from the service on Friday, April 24. We hope they’ll return in the future, and we want to give you as much notice as possible."
Welcome to the digital future. Where you can't own anything, where consumer has no rights whatsoever.
At least Steam does it better: If the game was removed for any rights issues it only affects ability to buy it. You can download and install it anyway.
That's also the main reason why GOG is my platform of choice when it comes to games with 100% single player/local multiplayer content. Download installer, make a few backups and you can be sure that your grandchildren will be playing it in 2070 on a PC emulator on their smartphones.
That's also the reason why i don't buy digital-only console games unless we're talking about 70+% discount. For 5-10 bucks i'm okay with renting it for a few years. For full price - not really as they can pull it at any moment.
Because it's what it is. Rental, you don't buy stuff that can be removed from you for any reason. Unlike Steam they actually pull the ability to download something you paid your money for. Sometimes you can still get it with not-so-legal tools which means they (Sony/MS/Nintendo) just spit in the face of customers as they can just remove the game from a storefront but allow downloading to people who bought it (like Steam does).
That's why 10-15 bucks is the maximum i'll pay for any game with any kind of DRM that prevents game with single player/local multiplayer being a huge part from running offline indefinitely (Denuvo and such, that's why i bought this one on sale with Injustice 2 as a bonus and didn't buy before.)
The whole system must be changed in the way that rights/legal issues o developers/publishers/authors etc. won't affect customers who already paid money. They paid money? They can use it. Period. Just without support or support transferred to company who owns the stuff now. Company decided to drop support? Fine, in case of software they must provide DRM-free version and that's it, with the exception of MMOs and other service based stuff that have no local offline/single player component. In the latter case companies should announce service termination for at least 3 months before closing it, stop taking any payments and refund anything paid in advance for any longer term.
Similar stuff is going on right now in the US and some other countries for right to repair. This stuff should next.
