Which controller do you guys use?
I am playing for over a year on a PS3 controller which is not bad, I have 2, one of them has the d-pad left button being totaly unresponsive already, i guess it is wear on the plastic membrane underneath
Looking for an upgrade, but most controllers I see the d-pad keys are not independent, which on my controller is making me sometimes jump or do unwanted moves if i'm not carefull, costing me matches sometimes

I've seen a PS4 controller from Battle Beaver Customs which has independent buttons on the d-pad which I think will make a world of a difference, but it comes out as quite expensive + the shipping

So i'd like to know what you use or reccomend and what do you think about yours

also maybe some of you suffering from the same problem so you can check out the custom controller from BBC (haha yeah I know...) if you have the cash
also they sell a Mod kit for 20$ if you want to mod your PS4 controller yourself

My controller died on me recently so i'm on keyboard now which is godawful for games like MK11 where you need blazing reflexes, especially for online play. Been using XBox 360 for years, was pretty awesome for all of my games.
But I also hear good things about official PS4 controller, though I don't like the idea of having 3rd party software for it to work properly, Xbox one were always plug 'n play, no issues whatsoever.
So dilemma now is: to try PS4 one and risk it or go safe with Xbox One which is apparently much better than Xbox 360 which I had so far (would buy wired one cuz I read wireless one is known to have button issues with some games).
Any input is welcome, I really have a hard time deciding.
you don't need any 3rd party software unless the game you're playing doesn't support ds4. luckily, mkx and mk11 support ds4 so it's just plug 'n play, just like the xbox one controller.

just your standard ds4 controller, works quite well

I have had enough of microsofts xbox one trash quality (4 broken controllers in one year) and switched to razer wolverine ultimate 2 months ago. It's a bit expensive but you get switchable d pad (4 or 8 directional) and thumbsticks, face buttons/bumpers are mechanical switches and trigger depth can be reduced with mechanical limiter which makes it very responsive. There are a lot of things you can customise via software.

Only "problem" is that the controllers responsiveness is so fast (because of mechanical buttons and it's wired) you can feel every milisecond of lag while playing online but the combo execution is way easier and precise. All in all, this controller is a beast and recommended for competitive play.

thanks, I was looking at one earlier on amazon, seems like too much features for an MK game, basic fatures are fine for me, all i need is a damn good d-pad

so you're saying no wierd input mistakes like jumping instead of going back foward motion etc.?

hope this thread will help other people who need this kind of information and are struggling with the same

Well, it could be an overkill for a fighting game but you can grab the tournament edition for a less money (although you get only 4 way d-pad in package).
I know what you're talking about, I had often input errors with og xbox controller like jumping instead of executing a special move; I can't remember that happened with razer (only errors could be caused by the game itself because of lag and rollback code). It took me some time to get used to the buttons (it's like clicking a mouse) , but once you get the feeling of a short travelling path, you'll have much more fun executing combos (I remember having problems with micro dashing before clicking forward+button in the middle of the combo, that's 3 fast click on forward button, and the success rate to do that now is like 99%, I can only blame myself for dropping combo).

For me, the most important thing is the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ durability. I got sick of buying a controller every 2-3 months. I could get 3 og xbox controllers for this price, hope it lasts much longer...

I have dualshock 4, x360 controller and logitech F710 and I like playing mk11 most with dualshock (great, precise d-pad and native ds4 support in mk11 which means you don't have to use "playstation configuration support" and will see sony prompts in the game).

Battle Beaver Customs Dualshock 4 is what most of the MK11 pro champions are using, but as far as I know, all the modifications they do are hardware based, so it's the same as a standard dualshock 4. It does look like they're well worth their price.

thanks, I figured that was the case, I think I'll get that controller from them, it will cost me less to order than buying it locally and having the mod done by myself
problem is i'll have to wait long before they start operating again because of the COVID-19 situation...

I've been looking at top controllers for days now even before starting this thread and to me it seems like most have the same thing unfortunately, and most review I see don't even speak about that aspect, they mostly play COD etc. which is any d-pad is fine for except the 360 one haha

for that I got it covered mouse and keyboard FTW(:

Been using a Xbox One Controller, everything feels accurate

I use Keyboard, A4tech G800V.

Several years ago I tried several gamepads, PS3 gamepad, Logitech Rumblepad 2, some cheap chineese copies of PS3 gamepad. However, nothing suit me better then keyboard.

I got an 8bitdo SN30 Pro +. It's basically like a dual shock but with x-input and an amazing dpad. Only issue is that if you get it, roll back the firmware update. Current one makes wireless play have ghost inputs from the stick.
