IMO Sub-Zero frames need to be slowed.
I would say he is very far away from being weak.
The zoning spam issue is just a part of MK11's general issues it has with its design, one of it being they made zoning way to common of a strategy now with some characters even build for it.
It is very easy to perform big combos with scorpion, if you play a few hours with Scorpion, you can perform insane combos and finish them with a krushing blow. Scorpion's got nerfed and his teleport is a high, but still a powerful char.
Since Sub lacks a fast mid he is fairly bad offline, he can contest when fighting true S tiers who all have fast mids, and offline you can react to and punish his mixups, but online he is incredibly strong. If you doubt me, SonicFox and other pros say the same thing, and even refuse to play against him online since he is so cheap with latency. Seriously: Sonic, the best NRS games player in the world, refuses to fight against Sub online, since he is so cheap and broken. Think about that for a bit.
Whenever I face brain dead cheap crutch characters online, like Liu Kang, Geras, Scorpion and other picks bad players rely on to win, I simply pick Sub Zero since he is so easy to use and win with (even at Demi God and above). I main Raiden, Dvorah and Jade, so Sub is like cheating for me; so very easy mode. To combat other easymode characters.
Sub, just like Scorp, Liu or Jax, are so strong online because they are so incredibly easy to use, to learn - they require no skill from their players - but so hard to play against with latency since you simply can't react reliably to Subs 50/50s, to Scorps poke/throw/teleport mixups, or to Jaxs braindead stagger pressure from F33.
Again, if you think I'm wrong feel free to think the best pros in the world are wrong as well.
The only ones who think Sub isn't amazing online are bad Sub mains, and because they are so bad they can't even do well with a online S tier. I don't even main Sub but when I want an easymode fighter up in the higher KL ranks I pick Sub. He is that strong.
