Update!!!
Turn off RGB keyboard light on PC options from the game.
The motherboard RGB swtiches to different colours depending on the menu and flashes on each option, also if you select costumes, it reflects the color of the costume too. It's a really nice touch.
it is still cool. but if I'll ever notice it hit my performance I'll disable it.
(the new DOOM has the same light effect, it made the entire game lag like hell as it tried to send input to the keyboard, had to disable it to make DOOM work normally.) so far nothing like that has ever happened in MK, but keep it in mind if it does to you.
The colour scheme of the keyboard lights changed not based on the character selected, but based on the SKIN currently selected. Yellow scarlet gives me yellow keys. Blue+orange liu kang gives me blue/yellow keyboard.
When performing a fatality, my keyboard tells me how to perform the fatality by showing the next button to press in blue (including telling me what direction to move to get to the correct distance).
When doing a fatality I get lots of red flashing effects.. but I think if the character whos the victim of the fatality has green blood the lighting effect plays green instead of red to match their blood :p
All the buttons which perform actions glow as white to keep that consistent while so much other colours change screen by screen or event by event. But as you change menus, or watch cutscenes, the buttons which are currently active are white. EX: if in a cutscene the only buttons which are white are Esc and Enter (and this actually changes in real time, because I can see a loading light effect as I load and watch the cutscene, and when I am done loading the next fight and can skip the cutscene, then the enter button turns while again to let me know Im done loading).
I tried pressing enter on the keyboard to get in the menu's but the keyboard lights just do not want to turn on and stay off

I know how to turn that stuff off, but i want the lights to work and see the shiny stuff. Else i could've just turned off the SDK or the ingame options from the start.
Make sure icue and keyboard are fully updated from within the icue app. I had the same thing with Division2 and that was the cause.
Corsair pre bake game effects (probably to prevent Aurora being able to spoof them) into icue and then the games just call them so if you're not upto date that effect wont exist.
I ended up disabling the rgb lighting yesterday as I suddenly couldn't launch the game anymore without doing so. I noticed as a side effect it fixed the wierd lag I was getting on the character selection screen sometimes so I think that actually was causing a problem.
Wow! your keyboard is literally pay to win!! xD
So I'm having a similar problem. Currently the lighting effects don't initialize for my keyboard (Corsair K95 platinum) but my other corsair products light up every time. What's strange is that I have seen the keyboard lighting work for this game (and it looks awesome). However I can't get it to work consistently and have no idea why.
