You just have to look at the store steam page. It's mentioned on the right there is some buy stuff in game. People have just to learn to read before they pre purchase something. I pre purchased it knowing that there will be some micro transaction in the game because that is mentioned on the store steam page. So micro transaction is may be loot boxes / characters / skins etc... in general.

Not a surprise. Just take the time to read.
