Thank you for your informative thread. I still maintain that microtransactions shouldn't even exist in a $60 game though. You shouldn't be able to buy them with irl money :/

That's all informative to lay consumers, but, at the same time, rather self-explanatory. Here's what "Time Krystals" ACTUALLY are:

They are a euphemistic currency surrogate (vernacular: "zenny"), purchased with real world money, which act as a means by which to insert micro-transactions into video games that usually (but, not always) already have a premium (vernacular: "triple-A") entry cost attached to them.

The dissociation with gameplay-affecting content, technically removes their necessity; however, it does not nullify the currency's lure -- the incentivisation instead being the locking of content behind Draconian, time-consuming, in-game busywork (vernacular: "grinding"), that can otherwise be circumvented using the currency in question.

As as addendum, the eschewing of "loot boxes", has nothing to do with any largess on the game producers' part -- rather, it is a legal obligation, and something that the aforementioned currency is [seen by them as] all but necessitated by.

So, the "Time Krystals" are Injustice 2's "Source Crystals" -- a way to bypass the Great Grind Wall of Zion and gain access to the game's promised, promoted and paid-for content. This "optional" product is heaped on top of the "AAA" price tag of the base game, the additional cost of the "premium" model, the pre-release "DLC" / "season" license/s, and any subsequent further "DLC" / "season" that may follow... To say nothing of the necessity of an Internet connection -- in the cases where online connectivity is required for full content access (as applies to MK11).

>tl;dr
>a penny-pinching scam that isn't a necessity, IF one does not value their finite time on this planet... or thinks they should have reasonable access to something they have already paid for handsomely

Wow. Finally, someone who can explain this eloquently.

Maybe wait until the games out before you complain about the grind? Also you don't need to buy them so why is it a big deal?

But once you see how hard to grind Time Crystals in-game and unlock item in-game, you WILL want to buy Time Crystals for real money... Nothing new there :steamfacepalm:
Do you know how long the grind is?

These morons (WB, not NRS) still don't get that cosmetics are a part of the gameplay.
Cosmetics are how you represent yourself or your char.
This is even more important, when you have to play with/against other people.

And yeah, can be earned in game while playing it.
This means, the balancing is screwed beyond belief.

You cant know that unless you play the game first. The gear pieces dont hold any stats, they are only visuals. it will not impact the balance of the game.

No, but everyone who ever has experience with such time crystals/gold/credits in mobile, browser or other games can confirm this is incredibly long and annoying, that's why there's ingame store with microtransactions to "help you" /sarcasm
But if you dont know how long it is for sure how can you criticize it?

I know that.
But cosmetics are a part of the gameplay experience, with stats or without them.

As many costumes as there are in the game its highly doubtful it would take long to unlock one

Great, the longer the grind the better. I am so glad that I'm in my 30s now growing up understanding that hard work = fruits of your labor.

Great, I hope it's a long grind for those item, though I probably won't use them, I like working for things. And I can assure you I will not pay another cent above what I already paid (Premium)

I don't see any problem here what so ever. The game gives you an option.

Do the company implement this feature knowing that kids will give them more money. Maybe

Do they understand that "to be the cool kid, you have to dress a certain way for school" is a way get people to pay more so they can be someone in the virtual world of MK? Maybe

To be fair, grind or no, MTX shouldn't exist in a $60 game

Depends on the costume.
I mean... look at Destiny 2
"Shaders are consumed now cause you get showered with shaders anyway."
And what happened?
You get showered with the most ugly shaders, but not the rare and good looking ones.

From my experience (including Injustice and MK mobie games) which tells 99% games with microtransactions has incredibly annoying grind and very low random chance to get good stuff.
Bruh free to play mobile games are not at all comparable to full price triple A games

Destiny 2 is a loot shooter it shares no common traits with NRS fighting games the whole point of destiny is to grind gear so of course theyre going to make the good ♥♥♥♥ hard to get. If you finish the story mode you will most likely have more than enough time crystals to get what you want
