Try both and see which one fits you better.

D-pad is definitely better than the Analog. I used to play on the Analog too but that was because I didn't know better. Personally, I am going to try to switch over to Keyboard later because it's just easier than smashing my thumb to try to get a combo and accidentally jumping.

if you are comfortable on anolog stick then stay with it, nothing wrong with it. However dpad is more accurate and can be a little faster.

No control style is better than another. Play on a rotary phone if that is what you want.

D-Pad is more precise from my experience, and I've used both, tho depending on the pad you use, you can sometimes misinput QCF inputs because at times the diagonal motion may not register... That being said, this game needs no such motions, but in all fairness, just use whatever you're comfortable with, as I've seen people destroy in Fighting Games with Hit and Mix boxes which is insane...

It was surprisingly fit for me to play on keyboard.
Having 3 fingers on WASD is much better then only thumb for all direction movements.
left thumb for a Space for a Stance Switch, 90% useless, but it fits me well.
and 4 fingers for all other stuff on numpad part, right thumb on Num0 for a Block - pretty handy,
Num7 for a grab, Num9 for a Ex,
Num4 Num8 for punches, Num5 Num6 for a kicks.
and, lastly Num1 for a konsumables on tower, and Num3 for a practice reset.

Depends on the controller, really. I've been forced to use an old 360 controller recently, and the d-pad is NOT an option on those things. But when I use a PS4 controller, I uses the D-pad: even though it's not the best ( the button are linked, causing input problems), the placement of the stick isn't optimal for me.

I bought a Bluetooth Xbox one controller and modified the D-pad with an Xbox Elite accessory kit which honestly has worked utter wonders for Fighting Games because it pretty much combines what makes PS4 and Xbone D-pads amazing...

I highly recommend you give it a try as it is MUCH cheaper than buying an Elite Controller and is easy to do...

or you can just get a ps4 controller, works with any bluetooth receiver and the dpad is good out of the box, no mods needed and is cheaper.

There is no definitive answear. Usually d-pad is better but 3% of population does better with analog. Its like with pad vs arcade stick in sf series. 90% peoples says that Street Fighter is designed to put arcade stick users at advantage over pad users but there are few peoples who use pad's on tournaments and win.
