Would You Recommend a Keyboard?
I've been playing this as well as other fighting games exclusively with a controller, but it had just now stopped working for me. I am considering trying the game with a keyboard instead of investing in another, what do you guys think of the game with keyboard for those that tried it?

Only psychopaths use the keyboard

I play on a corsair keyboard. Played mkx several months ago and since launch played mk11 on keyboard.

I think it will depend on the quality of the board. Set up keybindings that work for you.

button layout is the same as controller. i'd say its slightly more difficult at most because of the fatal blow and wake up stuff but its definetly possible

There are no rules for this, just go with whatever makes you happy. I don't think I ever even held a controller irl, and it never stopped me from playing any type of game. It's keyboard all the way for me. And if you decide to give it a go I recommend using the arrow keys and the NumPad. Comfy, very responsive and I can show you a screenshot of my layout later if you want :ooh:

I use keyboard and I'm doing well. I've been playing NRS games on keyboard since MK9 (well, MK4, but I was like 10 at the time). It's all personal preference anyway, don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

So if you feel comfortable with a controller, stick to it. If keyboard's your thing, do that.

Edit: As for key layout suggestions, my personal setup is WASD for movement. Q for Throw. NumPad 4512 for 1234 attacks. Enter for block. Numpad 0 for interact/meterburn. Shift for stance switch.

I'll give keyboard a try, I've seen a few hotkey layouts for the MK games on keyboard so it's worth trying.
Updated post above with my layout. ^
Good luck. :)

I think its difficult to synchronize your fingers with each other at first when you go from controller to keyboard !
But once you're used, the movements are much more precise than anything imho. You can't have wrong input unless you're pressed the wrong buttons / at wrong moments with your fingers

with keyboard, inputs are pretty accurate, so there's not much room to drop combos, and you can get ♥♥♥♥ to come out really fast. Go for it

using the arrow keys and numpad sounds cramped to me. That uses left hand only to move and puts everything else on the right.

Try this.

Controllers are cheaper than keyboards though, if your fine with the quick button mashing/beating up your keyboard. By all means, have at it. To each their own I suppose. :)
