Why no love for Kollector?
I'm just wondering why I never see anyone play Kollector online. I just picked him up today out of curiosity and I have to say I really like his moveset and strings more then I thought I would, in fact I wish more of the cast had a this much variety in their strings.

A character like Kollector has to utilize a good bit of his strings to be efficient (which adds variety to his gameplay) while most other characters (Liu, Jax, Geras, Erron...) have 1-2 strings that are so good the others become obsolete.

Imo if more characters were handled like Kollector their would be a lot more variety in this game. I can only play against a Jax or Liu (that just staggers the same 2 strings throughout the whole match) for so long until I start to lose interest in the matches.

I mean besides Kollector's design why aren't more characters like him, in terms in viable moves?

he is just not very good in the current game. but he is getting some big buff when the patch comes to pc. so there should be an increase in usage

What's not good about him? He has a good bit a variety with his strings (low, overhead mixups). Is he High tier? No, but he is a well rounded fighter imo. His low starter is fast and has built in mixups, he has a ton of mids that can be used to throw people off.

I don't know what buffs he's getting but every character is viable in this game, the ones who are top tier are the ones who have built in mix-ups, and have fast mids that are safe on block (very easy to play).

Personally the meta of this game is what needs to change imo. Characters like Lui and Jax are ruined because they are so 1 dimensional. Why use all their other stings when you can just spam safe/fast mids that are safe (or even plus) on block.

If they make Kollector like the other top tier characters I will be disappointed. I want fun characters with variety in their playstyles and Kollector is just that in his current state is.

whats not good? everything. almost everything is unsafe, low damage, low combo potential.
hes not even mid tier, hes bottom of the barrel along with davorah.

as for the patch, he will go towards around mid tier, as he now has new combo routes with a meterless new launcher and his combo damage has sky rocketed.

when mk11 first released he was quite good, as most of his combo routes were special cancelable, it got changed and nerfed him to the ground.

you can win with any character in casual games, but if you go up against a very good player as kollector youll lose 9 out of 10 games.

+1

I main Kollector from the release of the game along Noob Saibot. It's awesome. For that reason I picked him up to have more variety in the matches. The bull.sh.it with the "tier" list is going on and on comparing things just by movesets/framedata and not about the skills of the players and the reaction on counter certain moves. The tier doesn't mean anything, so you can be good or bad with everybody, I finded online along the time bad people who mains Scorpion, Eron Black or Cage/Briggs Family, also very good players that mains Kotal Kahn, Shao Kahn or D'vorah. It's all about practice.

I pretty much only play "low tier" (Kano "main", D'vorah, Shao Khan) and out of all of those Kollector has the most utility and decent strings. His Damage is fine imo because most Combos leaves the opponent close for more pressure.

Also if your not a tournament player then your a "casual", and by that I mean if your not going to locals, spending hours upon hours labbing every match up, and trying to become the best player at them game. 99% of players who play this game are "casual" including you lol. I have almost 400hrs in this game and feel I'm decent at it and I consider myself a "casual" player.

The problem with MK11 is the "top" characters control the meta so much. No character should have safe/plus mids that can be used as 50/50's (like Jax) because it takes all of the decision making (mind games) out of the game. All you need to do with most top tiers is just stagger your safe mids and mix up people with 50/50 throws. As a player who plays mostly characters that are considered "low tier", most of my matches against Lui, Jax, and Jacqui revolve around trying to interrupt their non-stop pressure. I even dropped Jax because I how boring and 1 not he is to play.

I agree 100%, but you still can't deny using "low tier" characters take a lot more effort and risk when compared to the Lui's, Jax's, Scorpion's....ect.

Of course those takes a lot more effort.. but it's not impossible to win at all using "lower" characters, as some of the people are mentioning and complaining. If all characters would have moves with the same frame data or same specials, there will be no variety added to the game. So for me this it's a plus.

True, but characters like Jax and Lui are already lacking variety imo. When you create a character with a ton of cool moves and 1-2 strings are so good that their entire gameplay loop revolves around using the same moves, then those characters are badly designed.

I played a good bit of Jax and he has to have one of my favorite command grabs (crushing blow) in the game but even I noticed that all he needed to do is ff3 (safe mids) and f2. I eventually dropped him because there was no evolution to his gameplay, all I needed to do was throw out the same safe mids and mix-up my opponent. There was no need to try and do any other string because those 2 are the absolute best and it makes the other useless.

After playing more Kollector there is no really good strings that dominates the others but there are many situational strings that make his gameplay interesting and not get repetitive.

Shao kahn might be low tier in tournaments. But online KL shao kahn has very high win rates. They should have a KL online tier list with scorpion top on that list.

Ehh, tier lists are pointless imo and I haven't even touched any ranked because it severely limits what each character can do.
