so....the cost of the DLC pack

39.99 is.....a bit much for 3 main characters and 3 guest characters and some fancy armor and the works, not saying i wouldnt buy it buuuuut i would only pay that much if it was 6 main characters vs 3 honestly. how do you guys feel about the pack?

I agree 40$ is too much.
The pre-order base game is 60$ so that is 2.4 dollars per character. The Kombat Pack is about 6.7 dollars per character.

But you also have to look at it from the other side, they run a business.
They have to pay the costs for a AAA game development studio and all the baggage that goes with that.

So whether or not they make 1 character or 25, it's going to be really expensive for them to produce any amount of content.


You could also look at it from hours played/cost

I bought Doom 2016 for 60$ and I got 14 hours of play. I loved it but the playtime/cost ratio is in the dumbster.

MK11 60$ and I got like 250 hours so far. playtime/cost ratio is out of the park.
So if there is a single DLC character you really fancy, that 1 character might cost you 40$ but if it gives you 100s of hours of playtime, the value is great.

I got a good pre-order deal on the Premium Edition, cost more or less the same as standard. So I am not too fussy about the price of the Kombat Pack.

If I had to pay for it now I just wouldn't. The price is ridiculous IMO. I might have been willing to buy Shang Tsung individually, since he's the only one in the pack I really care about, but beyond that I wouldn't touch it.

If pack 2 doesn't isn't included in the Premium I doubt I will bother with it, although if I am completely honest, I don't think I'll be playing MK11 by the time pack 2 arrives any way. I am already loosing interest. If they stagger the character release of the packs then chances are Shang is the only one I will get to use.

Well it's way more than that in the base game. You also need to include that in those 60$ it's also the foundation/shell of the game in general, story mode, krypt, etc, etc. And if you make a value for all this stuff will be less than 1$ per character. So yeah the KP has it's price light years way more elevated than it needs to be (20$ maximum).

Well I disagree with you about Doom. I played the story for 15 hours without rushing it, then I played it another few hours to unlock everything in those missions that I missed before, then I played those unlocks as classic levels, I made Snapmaps with friends, I played online. Same was with the new God of War (60$ for the Story Mode). And from time to time as a Doom fan I'll play again the story because was so great and I enjoyed it very much, actually as you said "14 hours" but filled with solid content. There is more thrash outhere for 60$ or even higher that doesn't even have the value of Doom. If you play a game and finish the story in less than 15 hours doesn't mean that it doesn't fit the 60$ price as long as it's very good and you have additional content without charging you with more than the base game in dlcs as it's the case now with MK. Like wtf? 120$ for 3 Kombat Packs? No thanks, I'll buy them from the resellers with a discount attached to them. With that money I can purchase 10+ good games on the summer sale.

I disagree just with the fact that 14 hours/ratio is a dumpster for you at 60$ even if the game it's pretty solid and sold as "full package" that doesn't charge you for extra dlcs. And even then you know that there is more than 14 hours of content in doom. Or the online & extras doesn't count?
