You can see the buttons your oponent is replays and also the frame data, with that info you can go to training mode set the ai to do what your rival did online (using the record option) and try to find a way to counter it with your character
You don't need to know every frame data for all characters, you only need to know what you fastets moves are and practice reaction
As mentioned above playing against the ai will not help and going online with out basic knowledge of the mehanics will get you frustrated
The best thing to do is going to practice mode, learn your character and how to react to what your opponent is doing, is a slow proccess, it took me 4 nrs games to actually feel confident enough to play online on a regular basis with out wanting to throw my pc out the window
Not only to you need to learn what your character can do, you have to learn what your OPPONENT'S character can do. If you're looking to learn, you shouldn't be in ranked unless a Kombat League season is up, that way you're placed correctly against other similar skill levels. Win % odds mean NOTHING and I can't stress that enough. Just because the other player has a higher win odds, doesn't mean they're good at the game.
Take some time, AND DO THE TUTORIALS. It's quite clear you don't know what you're doing, so go and do the basic tutorials. You cannot expect to do well in anything until you get a feel for how something works. Fighting games DO NOT hand out participation medals. If you want to win, you have to work for it. There's plenty to do in this game outside of PVP, and I find it very stupid of you to think that that's where your time should be spent knowing you have zero PVP experience.
"This game is awful if you are a new player", yeah, if you don't take the time to learn the damn game. This applies to every game. You shouldn't be looking to turn the game on the first time, and instantly compete against people. Learn the damn game first instead of bashing it cuz you're getting your ass whipped.
2. Playstyle - every player has some preferable playstyle. You like close combat with many command grabs and high hit damage, or fast rushdown with long flashy combos or heavy zoners, pick a character that suits you the most, it doesn't matter if it's low tier, you can master everyone and destroy your opponents if you know every strong and weak points of your and opponents character.
3. Practice - once you picked your main character go to move list and read all data about moves. Bear in mind that there are 2 ranked variations with different special moves so one of them can be more zone based, other can extend your combos and some of them gives you interesting setups as a surprise. Try everything out and pick one you think is the best for you. Tag some combo strings on screen and execute them frequently. Your fingers and muscle memories will be in tact after some time. Pay attention on frame data, your fastest moves, safe strings and type of the moves (you want regularly mix lows, overheads and throws to surprise opponents defence, try to be unpredictable because after a round or two you'll be an open book and your opponent will have easy work with you). And of course, read the requirements for crushing blows, it gives you an enormous damage boost.
4. Local fights - set the difficulty to medium as a warm up. Execute some strings, special moves, get the feeling of the pace, move through the space, set up some corner combos to see how long can you juggle the opponent. After some time, you'll have the feeling of every string and the execution speed will be much faster.
5. AI customisation - configure your main AI to match your playstyle. Go to towers, set AI to play for you some matches and observe how the character executes combos, how it launches the opponents etc. AI doesn't mix a lot moves, it's repetitive but it gives you basic examples how to execute and extend combos.
6. Youtube tutorials - there are a lot tutorials how to play the game the right way regardless of which character you choose. Throws, staggers, jailing etc. it helps you to build up strategies how to defeat various opponents. You can watch various combos for your main and practice them.
7. Raise the AI difficulty - once you feel comfortable with your main, set the difficulty to hard/very hard. This will be useful to improve the reaction time to punish AI with the fastest starters, train the hit confirmation to extend your combos and damage. Fighting AI isn't a mind game, there isn't much of guessing, just train the punishments and hit confirmation because AI reads your movements and will punish you instead.
8. Kasual - it's time to play some casual fights and put to the test what you have learned so far. Human opponents are different world, you have to read the moves, the habits, set ups. You have to use cheap or simple moves very often. If the opponent catches you with some for you unknown string, go to the practice, record the same move and play it so you can find the right counter.
In conclusion, if you want to get good, you have to spend much time training, experimenting and observing. Lazy button mashers will not survive even if they pick high tier characters.
Good luck
To be honest can you explain mk 11 better? I don't think so! It's all there. And it's quite a long way. But give props to the guy who invested this much time to explain EVERYTHING!
Good job bro! And I mean it!
Check what attacks your character does that are low mid high overhead, then check what combos have mix ups between low mid high overhead.
You can end most combos with a special move, many special moves will launch opponent in the air for extra combo if you use an aggressive bar.
Remember to use throws every now and then.
Don't be predictable. Don't keep using the same stuff.
Know your characters: - fast starting attacks; don't try to punish with a long startup attack.
- safe on block attacks; if you don't connect try to end with a safe on block
- requirements for Krushing blows
You can use Fatal Blow in a combo to make sure it hits.
You can watch a youtube video or go to steam workshop to learn some high damage combos for your main.
I am very uncertain, but the Tutorial Mode is actually very, very rewarding
with how well it goes into Details about learning how to Fight...
& I think when you face off an AI in the Game, the AI uses Stats
that are actually customizable by you, yourself, so if you improve the AI,
then the AI will make your Fighting Experience harder to win...
But as no one really knows if this AI System works or not, it is very
uncertain how well it does it's job...
There is another method, too... Online Training, yes you can now
Train Online with other Players, instead of an AI Bot...
But a good Friend with good fighting experience is highly suggested here...
Also playing against Friends are another way of learning how to fight...
You can always work on your AI first, build them better to be more deadlier
in Combat, try to get them to win more, & you just be the spectator, & watch
& see how they fight another AI, & try using that as a Learning Curve...
I dunno... Good Luck...
Though, with Level Systems involved, no matter how good you are,
you won't win at lvl 1 against a lvl 300 Player, a single punch could
probably put you out alone... So keep that in mind... ~_~
what are you talking about? it s not a rpg. lvl have no impact in this game
I wrote this... "could probably", as I have not played Kombat League yet,
& was unsure, I just know from experience of how the AI Kombat System works...
Usually Ranks are done in 1 of 2 ways...
1.) Gain Experience, & Rank Up getting Stronger, or getting more HP, & doing more damage...
this does work in Fighting Games, it is not necessarily an RPG Requirement...
2.) The other way, is that you gain Points, Stats & such math things that really
are only useful for a Record Base, & nothing more, something you can look at,
but does not effect the actual Game Play at all...
So far in MK11, i've only seen the first 1... Supposedly, if i'm correct...
So thank you for the heads up about Ranks in Kombat League...
So it's very possible for a lvl 1 to beat a lvl 300, if the lvl 1 player has done nothing but training mode before going online.
Basically, the level in this game is not a measurement of skill, by any means.
My advice would be to stick vs AI and watch some streamers and tournaments to learn.
Hopefully this game will make a comeback someday.
