Also ESC completely closes the game, no warning whatsoever. This screams Japanese PC port, lol! I guess the performance is much better than the dotemu ♥♥♥♥ tho but without online it's a difficult purchase.
LOL
The core game looks and runs fine to me, it's good old Metal Slug, but I never played the original XX or really any of the later Metal Slugs so I wouldn't notice any gameplay differences.
The controls and menus, however, are rough around the edges. Neither my custom fightstick nor my PS4 gamepad are plug-n-play with this game. My Xbox controller works okay, except that menus can only be navigated with the d-pad, not the analog stick. Once the game starts though you can control your character with the left analog stick if you wish. Basically it's the usual Neo Geo PC port experience: The game is high art, but the frame they put it in is sketchy.
Unless they bother to patch/update proper PC support, this is a real bad launch.
I'm just saying, I've been dealing with DotEmu's garbage ports for many years. They're ♥♥♥♥, and I don't trust anything they get their grubby claws on.
(Also, is it true this is $20 in the US? If so that's pretty pricey.)
