Why have an option that doesnt work?
If the AI or the player by mistake aggravates the dragons the game is basically ruined.
It's like you can't even fight each other anymore as the dragons just slay all units running around.
I love having dragons though :)
I think it happens when AOE spells are cast, AI casts it on the enemy and the dragon gets hit by chance.
In my test game, there were more dragons than any other unit. The whole map was covered in dragons, and they bogged down the in between turn times due to them moving all over the place aimlessly. There were a couple points where dragons were just getting in the way. I literally couldn't attack the enemy because of dragons hogging up hexes.
I think that the problem is with AOE type of abilities. AI doesn't care if it hits roaming units with their AOE attacks. For example, AI unit uses attack that pushes back enemy unit and it hits a roamer (like dragon). Dragon units consider this an attack and get hostile. I have seen AI do these things a couple of times and to my knowledge is the main reason for this problem.
Never saw AI specifically attack roaming unit, just 'accidentally' with it's AOE attacks.
The question really is: What do they add to the game? There's something that you should never attack unless you are so powerful that you would win anyways. You always have to be careful not to do it accidentally. And if you slip up and accidentally hit them, your game might be ruined by the consequences.
I wonder if anyone has actually done the "Kill all draogon-bosses-victory". I can't really fathom a scenario where that would be the perferable method of winning over the normal way.
