There may have at one point been the intention that if all your traits were equal, you obviously didn't have any trait that stood out above the rest and therefore should be reset back to neutral. On the other hand, players report getting special text for all four traits when they have them like that and seeing all four on the in-game yearbook. On the THIRD hand players report that those traits don't carry over to the webpage yearbook.
Possibly the most likely explanation is that you weren't actually supposed to be able to get all traits equal, because it's highly unlikely to happen naturally, but having a fallback in place to prevent dialog flow from breaking was more important than finding ways to force players out of that unnatural alignment.
But I don't know for sure, and if I don't know, I don't think anyone else can.
