Peg Leg and One Arm Trait armor

I'm confused with how these traits intract with the armor damage reduction system since it is so hit or miss if ai will deal 6 or 37 damage. on the peg leg trait only the boot portion is replaced with the peg and the whole thigh is still an active hitbox. If hit will it be considered unarmored? Or will it instead base it off other armor like your other legs protection or torso protection. Same question with one arm however this trait actually makes it a stump so I think it would be torso protection if hit, but once again I cannot tell.
