Cat Bug
Firstly, This game is a breath of fresh air. It's peaceful, atmospheric, and fun. I like it. Secondly, there is a cat bug. It must be intermittent, because I am seeing others describe the cats behaviour. However, mine had none. It actually would not move. Any map screen I went to, whether the boat or an island, the cat would remain in the original place we spawned in. It would proceed to just lay down, or stand in place watching. I could not interact with it, not sure if that's a thing.

I wouldn't have even noticed that this was a bug, except for one game breaking problem. Since the zoom of the map is tethered to the distance between you and the cat, it becomes an issue when speaking with characters. Not so much while you are on the boat, since you can zoom out with the zoom out button. However, you cannot zoom out in a town or on an island, making reading the speech bubbles from character interactions impossible, considering they are oriented to be facing right and the cat is stuck to the left.

This was my first play through so I will give it another go and see if the bug persists. However, keep up the great work! I can tell this game is going to be a blast!

Your issue was caused by the game thinking you were playing in co-op. The second player is supposed to control the cat. In single-player the camera is centered on the main character and the cat follows you around.

The game will switch to co-op anytime two controllers are plugged in. You can disable this behavior through the options. Terribly sorry for the inconvenience. Hope it didn't harm your experience too much.
