Co-Op Problems

I'm able to view my friends game via steam play together, and they can allow me control access, but can not assign me to Dafodil, and neither can I.

we are both using keyboards, and this may be the problem, but if anyone could help that would be nice!

Yeah, I don't know how many games will support input from two keyboards, and, if I'm remembering correctly, Spiritfarer doesn't support having two players on the same keyboard, so one of you would need to use a controller.
