Sent Gwen, Stuck in Golden Platforms?

Gwen said she was ready to go. Only other passengers I had were snake and frog. I picked up Alice before sending Gwen but didn't get the glide ability yet. Only have double jump. Now I'm trapped in a space with water and some golden platforms? I'm sure if I had glide I'd be able to make it up, but right now I'm just stuck at the bottom? Is there a way out if I swim far enough? Or does it time out eventually?

went back and just started hitting buttons. The butterflies can be used. When they are used it changes to stage and a clear path appears.
