Co-op Abilities?

Hi! I’ve been following this game for a few weeks and was happily surprised to hear to got released today! I’m seriously considering purchasing, but something I want to know beforehand is the abilities of player 2 (Stella’s cat, Daffodil). I know the co-op-ness has been stated as optional, so I was wondering if playing as Daffodil warrants more of a helper-type (minimal effect on environment or gameplay) experience or one that is closer to that of Stella themself. The more specific, the better! Thanks!

Daffodil's experience is pretty close to Stella's. The major difference is Daffodil cannot talk to the spirits. He can however do everything else such as cook/fish/hug/give them food/etc.

The dev response above is (obviously) exactly correct. Also, Daffodil can move around faster than Stella, which is a nice bonus. You'll spend a significant (and I do mean significant) part of your time in the game doing things like tending your crops, milking your cows, doing minigames for resources, etc, so having Daffodil there feels more like a valued partner who shares the load of chores rather than just a helper.

I just spent 13 hours playing this game with my husband as Daffodil. It was one of the most rewarding co op experiences together in 13 years. Take it as you will, but we loved what they offered and our time in it and can't wait to dive in again.
