How do you catch tuna?

A trick I stumbled upon: Instead of fully letting go of the reel in button and waiting for the red fishing rod to turn back to yellow, just spam press the reel in button while its red, and go right back to holding the button when its yellow/white. You barely lose any reel in progress :)

Don't stop reeling in until the line is completely red, and then time your button press to start reeling as soon as the tension stops. It will take a few cycles to reel it in, depending on how good your timing is.

i watch a video to help me catch the tuna. it took a long time, but i caught it:

Just keep tapping the "E" button while its yellow (instead of holding the button down) and stop tapping when it turn red . That worked for me because it made it easier.

Hold the Reel button as normal, and when the rod is red start tapping the reel button until rod is yellow again. Its the easiest way.

More easier way is to get last treasure map from merchant and go to hidden shrine, it will make fishing much easier.

Get the upgrade that you receive for both pickaxe and fishing: you get the treasure map from francis when you give him what he wants.
It helps, without it you'll only get the first tuna, the easiest.
