Tuna Trouble
I have spent 3 game days fishing for tuna. I have searched the forums. I have watched three videos and I cannot replicate the technique. Worse yet, the overall durability of the rod seems to decrease over time, so it's impossible to get a good rhythm going.

This is utterly infuriating. Can I just buy the tuna instead? I don't care if it costs 30k.

I want this game to go back to being a wholesome and bittersweet experience, rather than infuriating, please. What the heck am I doing wrong here?

PS. I playing on the PC if that makes any difference.

Update: I moved to a tuna patch up north and it was actually fair. Perhaps the bluefins are easier by nature than whatever was at the other area near Furogawa?

There are a couple of tricks to catching tuna. One is to find the late game shrine that upgrades your fishing and mining, making your rod more durable. The other is that button-mashing while your rod is orange reduces how much ground you lose without costing as much durability.

When your tuna is in fighting mode (red line) you just have to press the reel button repeatedly and quickly (do not hold) and it will not snap. You can proceed to hold the reel button again once the fish is out of fighting mode. (Just repeat the process until the fish is caught). You don't need the upgrade to do this but it will be easier if you have it. You can do the same thing for any fish in the game that fights hard.
