I didn't play around with the auto saves so far, because I don't want to loose any progress. Do you mean I should go back (hence loosing all progress since) and try again to get Alice on board?
Yes, I meant that if you think this is the source of the bug, it would be possible to load a previous save point. The auto save folder will keep the last 250 saves of the game, so you can safely load a previous point, then load back your previous progression if you want to reverse the operation (this would be the auto save with the highest number in the () ). The second upgrade requires 2 obols, so you'd have to have obtained 4 since the beginning to get it. If you have a lot of progress you don't want to lose, you can send me your save to alex@thunderlotusgames.com and I'll check it. You'll find it at C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\Thunder Lotus Games\Spiritfarer\SF_SAVE_GAME0.save.
Thank you very much for your kind support. Now there is something very embarrassing I have to confess. I was very irritated when I read in your message that the second upgrade needs 2 obols and not 3 as I thought. So I opened my game and checked the island with the upgrade and I found the ebarrassing truth: There is no bug. Just a stupid user.
Turns out, I totally misread the display. When you open the upgrade screen it said 3/2. I interpreted this as "costs 3, you've got 2" not the other way around. Now I don't remember if this undestanding of mine was so clear to me the first time, that I didn't even bother pressing X or if I did, but didn't press it right, so that I got confused. And I definitely didn't activly receive the obol from Alice. But the fact stands: I reported an bug that isn't there.
I'm very sorry for your troubles for nothing. Please forgive me.
Thanks a lot for your efforts nevertheless and thanks a lot for this wonderful game as well. It’s a great game to pick up after a long hard day. Just sailing around a bit, cook some food, do this and that and … oh … so much for just a quick game before going to bed… :-)
