Save data gone

The other night I was playing this for a few hours and saved my game and exited since I needed to go to bed, I just opened steam to play and it had uninstalled itself and when I reinstall it, all of my save data was gone. All of my spirits, quests, everything was just wiped. I’ve tried using steams backup recovery, file recovery programs, everything, but it’s just all gone. What do I do? Is this a completely lost cause?

You can try the "Load auto save" button from the main menu. Those should still be there.

that unfortunately hasnt worked either :(

Not sure where you saves would have gone. The auto save folder is not handled by Steam auto saving and nothing should delete them. You can always check at C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\Thunder Lotus Games\Spiritfarer if there is saves in the auto save folder. The saves are tied to your windows user. They might not be available if you changed which user your are logged on.

Thanks, I tried that but it didn't help, so I just decided to play through the entire game again up till the point that I was at before, so it's technically solved, thank you for your help though
