how do u make the cat follow u and cut the tree?

Are you playing in single player mode? The cat should always follow you unless you're playing co-op.

I had some problems cutting trees on the back of the sisters, you need to move slowly to make sure the cat follows you.

how do i know im playing singleplayer mode or co op?

Just wait a bit after launching a tree cutting event. Daffodil will make its way up to you.
You will probably laugh at it.

i figured it out i had to manually control daffodil and move her to the tree it was janky

Eh, just disable your second input device and wait for a bit after starting cutting event.
Should take Daffodil less than a minute to catch up to you. Probably 15 seconds.
