Am I dumb or?

Okay there have been glitches for me, for example if I jump off my ship I can't get back on again, I have to save and quit and then go back in so it loads with me on the deck again. Which is fair enough, this game is very new, things happen. But double jumping up to the ladder??? Is there some secret way of doing this that I'm missing?? I know I'm double jumping correctly because I could double jump onto the roof next to the shrine and collect the necklace. But double jumping beneath the ladder, she will not grab the ladder or begin climbing. I've tried different timing, but she seems to be jumping high enough, just not interacting with the ladder at all. I've been trying and turning it on and off for literally hours now and am getting super frustrated because this should be so simple...

Are saying that if you swim over by the shorter area, you can't just jump up on deck? Should work. Don't focus on the ladder.

Yeah, it won't let me jump up at all from the sea.

you don't need to go up the ladder, just jump on deck from in front of the boat, find the area where the deck is closer to the water.

Edit: I just reread your post more carefully. I'm confused by which ladder you're trying to "jump" up to.

Are you talking about the rope ladder that descends from the ship to your rowboat? If so, ignore that if you're in the water around your ship; your rowboat is blocking it.

You need to swim over to the long, low, non-railed part of your ship and hop on there.

Any other ladders on your ship are "on" your ship, and won't help you if you're in the water. You still need to swim to the long, low part and jump on there.

The ladder in Hummingbird, the one you need to double jump to reach. Sorry if I wasn't clear!

That ladder above the raccoon shop? You can't reach that?

That's just a double jump and holding up to grab the ladder. Itd be very weird if that doesn't work.

Sorry, your original post sounded like you were talking about jumping on your ship.You can reach the ladder in Hummingberg by double jumping. For some of those harder to get ladders, it works better if I do a kind of run/jump + jump again from the side. For some reason, it works better that way for me.

When double jumping, make sure to hold the jump button to go as high as possible. Simply tapping jump will make you do a low jump.

You need the double jump ability to reach that ladder. Then you need to double jump while making sure to hold the button between presses. You'll get the double jump by activating the shrine in the middle of Humminberg, but you'll need at least two spirit aboard first (normally Frog and Deer).
