Report a translation problem
The mechanic makes sense, as otherwise you'd be overrun by eggs (as is the case in my backyard in real life), but still, it would have made a tad more sense to me to only have one or two chickens in the coop and get the same number of eggs, rather than to have so many and get so few.
Edit: I'm now beginning to wonder if there might be a small bug associated with the number of eggs you get. In a new coop I was getting one egg per chicken until I had four or more chickens, at which point I went back to only getting one egg. I posted about it over in the Bugs section, if anyone else is experiencing the same issue.
