Cannot use Zipline

I unlocked the zipline ability well after my initial visit to that island with Alice (because I didn't have the obols on my first visit). Now that I have it unlocked, I can't seem to use it correctly. I jump toward a line but none of the controls allow me to attach to the line or pick a travel direction. I've tried timing it to the pulses of light on the line, to no avail.

When I finally did get back to unlock it, Alice had already passed through the Everdoor, so I don't know if I missed a tutorial moment because she wasn't with me at that time.

Help, please!

You need to hold up wile jumping to attach to a zipline.

Yea.. Hold up while NOT using your floating-hat/glide power.. It annoys me a lot that I cant float around in the air before attaching to the zipline.. because.. I'm clumsy ^^'

There is a guy on one of the Japanese-themed islands who wants it. Just follow his instructions and you'll get the woodprint.
