3) My partner and I found it enjoyable. In the demo, the cat can do almost everything the protagonist could do (hug and talk to npc's, cook food, plant in the garden). I haven't played Stardew Valley, but if you would consider its core genre to be "recreational simulator", then it will be similar in that regard.
Does Co-op work with multiple controllers?
I trying to play Co-op with 2 PS4 Controllers, but the options menu doesn't seem to incorporate multiple GamePads and the controlling of the characters seem to get wires crossed.
Seems like a great oversight if you only allow one controller for a Co-op game, no?
I don't know how to disable Steam Input...
I'm not entirely sure what is meant by Steam Input either, but I would suggest looking at the controller settings to make sure nothing is being overridden. Within Steam, go to top top menu (the tiny font text) for View->select Settings->select Controllers near the bottom->then select General Controller Settings to tinker from there.
I will note that I do not use Big Picture Mode. I also always turn the controllers on before I load up the game (seems dumb, but some games won't recognize the controller if it is turned on during the game)
Nope, disabling Steam Input just made neither work. The only thing it did do was show the correct key-binds for a PS4 controller rather than Xbox controller which I don't have.
The problem is that your control config in game only has three options (None, Keyboard, GamePad) and there is no way to indicate separate Gamepads, so the controls go to crap with both of them on.
Also, there is no permanence to those game settings. Every time I start the game, I have to manually reconfigure the controls and which character it controls. That's quite annoying :(
Not directly as a computer generally treats all keyboard inputs as one shared input device and does not differentiate between different physical keyboards and just reacts to the key press regardless of which keyboard it was actually from.
So even with two physically separate keyboards plugged in the game will still react as if it was the same input and not allow you to be able to control each player separately.
In contrast controllers are generally setup to be recognized as separate input devices so any combination of multiple controllers or 1 keyboard + controllers for remaining players works for multiple players up to the max players in a game.
Its always why remote play together requires controllers for separate player controls since its running the game from a single instance so it treats player A and player B keyboards as a single device.
