The way the game is designed it's pretty tough not to be an absolute savage in the wasteland -- you and your people will eventually starve or die from dehydration if you don't obtain water or food. I suppose one *could* build revenue-generating buildings early on and perhaps just purchase what you need from the settlements, but it would be pretty tough going.
Hope this answers your question.
On the other end, going all-out will atract chuds and creeps who revel in the harm of others (wether it's slavery, killing, raping) is gonna also give a bad rep to the game.
There is no thin line between tasteless and offensive. If I am told I am the bad guy I should feel like a bad guy. Too many games like Tyranny and Overlord suffer from the "You are a bad guy but there are people worse than you, we'll let you kick puppies around and be a general douche but you aren't as bad as the other guys"
And as for Fallout 2 and Tyranny, as long we can get events where we decide what we do with the children (Kill them first, sell them to slavery, make them shoot their own families). I am fine with that level of evil as I am an evil raider.
So while in Fallout you can be a canibal, the game has gameplay consequences for it. But the game doesen't prevent you from being a canibal, it just has consequences along side it. The game is not like ''Oh yeah this horrible thing is amazing''.
You might ask if i'm okay with brothels, and again. the subtext is important. A brothel is where willing men and women prostitute themselves for money or pleasure, in definition. They don't say that people are raped in there.
First Mate above me is an example of what we call chuds. They use excuses like ''historical accuracy'', ''free speech'' and ''gaming culture'' to spread their hateful views, eventually making them mainstream and socially acceptable. Such as Mysoginy/Racism/transphobia/Homophobia Maybe he's one, maybe he's just parroting it because he's been influenced, can't say. A lot of Gamers have been radicalized and it's affecting how we are being viewed.
I'd hate this game to become a cesspool of chuds like the Darkest Dungeon community and so many other. So this is why i'm speaking about it. If you are not someone like that, then don't feel attacked.
Of course not, I am just having an unpopular opinion that evil campaigns should be baby eating evil since too many devs are too scared to go all out in the evil depart despite hyping it up as the game where you play as an evil person
Excuse me on calling out your ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, first I would like you to give me a list of games that have been "radicalized" you did mention "a lot" right shouldnt be hard , second you are paranoid into thinking creativity = making whatever their story is "socially accepted", third free speech is a thing and so is freedom of thought, creators shouldn't be stopped from making their fictional works whatever they desire because it will offend some paranoid people, said paranoid people should just go elsewhere and buy another product or make their own (with their marxist utopia? hey no one will stop you even though it literally killed millions of people in the past, that is what freedom of speech is), not try to control what other people are allowed to think.
