CD key?

On boot-up the game asks for a CD-key. Where do I find this?

The set up did not ask for any cd key when I installed it.

This is also for my future self, since I'll likely forget.

The Kohan games used to have a steam pop up for the CD key when the game launched, even if it was already activated, which at the time was kind of annoying.
Now it seems that pop up no longer is working.
I'm not entirely sure why I can no longer Shift Tab to go back to Steam in game or why when I ALT TAB that the game will freeze, however BEST work around I have found is this:

Go to Library to find the game.
Right click, Manage, CD Keys.
TAKE A PICTURE WITH YOUR SMARTPHONE, as copy paste will not work.
Launch game and type in from image.
???
Activated.
