The game has continued to save progress, it allows me to play all my DLC from years ago, allows me to play mulitplayer with bots because it says no game servers can be found. It let me host a server, but again, no way to know if anyone saw it. It just launched with bots.
This is a really good time to get back into S8P. I am helping 2-3 people at the moment get back into the game. Yesterday, there was even a 5 player match
I am really happy that you managed to get the game working. You must be one of the most persistent people in the world to have got past the old account problem. A LOT of people had that issue and you are one of the few people to succeed, NICE!
GFWL should install correctly by default on Windows 10 using the latest installation file at: http://www.xbox.com/en-IE/Live/PC/DownloadClient
Follow this guide to activate and download the DLC for free: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=638506917

If you run into any trouble, please send me a message. I'm always ready to help :)
Nice guide to help those with the DLC. The only thing is, the installer does install GFWL in the X86 folder, this never worked for me. I could never get the home key to bring up any GFWL menu and I always got the can't connect to server message "check internet connection warning".
It's my opinon, for whatever reason, that the copying over to Win Sys 32 folder was the money shot. By copying that folder over (I can only speak to W10) - (and I realize I may not have needed the whole folder copied, probably just the live.dll) for the first time after many methods, uninstall, re-install, delete, reboot, rinse, repeat did it show me the menu.
I realize your guide may have worked for some, but there are dozens of threads of people trying that method and are pulling their hair out.
However, if one method doesn't work for someone perhaps what worked for me will etc. That's all that matters. I just wanted to finish a game I remember liking years ago.
Truth, I've forgotton so much of the game, now I need to start over and I never played it online before so that will be interesting at some point.
Cheers!
This is where it gets weird, i bought the game on this account to as it was cheap and went to make new gfwl then thought hmm i wonder if i can use the one i already have on this account which i figured no way. Turns out i could it transfered my profile to this one and all the maps DL right away which wouldnt on the original account , even had my same loadouts. So somehow transferring my gfwl to a new steam account with the same game fixed the map DL issue. GO FIGURE that one lmao. Now i remember my eyes start to burn after 2 straight hours of the game on Insane win/lose unsure but a great game.
Ulitmately we need a new test subject who never had a GFWL account, never had the game at all. See if the can buy the game and use Xbox Live creditentials on GFWL, a brand new Outlook account or something. Up to not exluding if they have the problems I and so many had, use my technique to at least get the menu up in the game.
