I only use it when a previous character has frozen/stunned/knocked over an enemy. They don't get a turn before the spell lands.
But otherwise the AI is smart enough to move.
Reminder, alcohol elf's cheers and elf's third level kiss give courage and/or move character to act first on the next turn.
For example:
Pump all stat to Str on paladin. Have her delay turn. Put buff on her (recommend either the elf or ranger). Move Paladin to safe distance (skill have range of 5). Drop the skill. And deus vult.
Interesting thing about ramdomia meter's first skill. You can still delay your turn as long as you have two action remanding. This can allow the paladin to fall back to the previous tactic, even if the target isn't stunt from her hammer of justice attack.
Note: Dungeon ale buff last 7 turns. With only -3 penalty to charisma.
Reminder: Know which enemy have crowd control skill, they will be your worst enemy.
