Far from the cleanest run ever, with lots of swingy RNG misses, parries and dodges for both sides as tends to happen early on in the game:

New Idea for an opening.. Use the rangers Double damage hit and add the thief's bonus to him.
The second vid is really old, balance has changed a lot. Either that or some how he got great weapons, I'm doing like half his damage. My party is only lvl 3 at this point. I dunno what i could have missed because i've been keeping watch out for the side quests and i think i grabbed um all.
I've been to the basement at that point, because you have to. I haven't been to the caves on that save file, no.
I did the side quests on the tavern floor that are available before that point.
I normally do all the caves content before taking on floor 4. That is to say, both Stalker fights, and both spider fights. That final fight is a killer.
I don't know why i missed on that much XP as i did not have a single person get KO'd in any fight.. Maybe i needed to drag fights out a bit more for that extra few hundred XP? All i can say is I had a very hard time with half the team at lvl 3. It took me 8 hours the other night and countless trys. I think it's come down to the main Key on this fight on the highest lvl, is forget about the other stats and just add courage to get them all moving first. But still those golems are a PIA for sure and those bloody snipers hit my spell casters all the time, hiding them behind that wall on the left seams like the only sure fire way to keep them safe. Even behind cover it seamed like they were constantly being hit.
The level of difficulty for this fight verse epic is about as large of a difference as i've seen so far.
