Hello Woldy

The Thief do not run because he is a very shy, cautious and stealtly character in personnality and nature. He is also a bit of a coward and feel a lot of insecurity about himself.

Also, when you are trying to detect very hidden and...surely....very DEADLY traps, (logicaly) you usualy don't do that while running at full speed in uncharted hallways of a dark dungeon.

The developpers wanted to replicate a bit of table top RPG realism and logic in regard of that. By making the Thief walk slowly when he is performing his detect trap skill in exploration mode.

Now....if your real question is: "Can i deactive the Detect Trap skill of the Thief while controling him so he can run faster ?"

The answer of that question is: No.

As to why ? Because that's a choice the developpers made.
Only them could answer you that question and explain their choice.
But right now. That's how things are and that's how we must accept them to be.

This is contradicting as he runs at very other time, when following people, during combat etc :P

Ok, maybe i expressed myself a bit badly here. I'm sorry.

It's not that he CAN'T run. He just prefer NOT to run, if possible !!!
Because he is by nature cautious in places he doesn't know about and are dangerous.

That said, it doesn't mean he won't run at all. Especially when danger is already in his face and he need to save his life. (On the contrary, when faced with danger, if he could, he would be the first one to "run away" if it was just up to him!)

Also, he don't mind running behind other peoples, because he know he won't be the one falling into any incomming traps. (And also because, maybe he doesn't want to be left alone behind in a dangerous place ?)

Anywayyyy......long story short, this is all an explanation made in the taste of the lore.

The only true, normal, boring and logical reason why the Thief don't/can't run when he is in the lead, it's purely like i said in my second explanation above in my previous message about how the Detect Trap mechanic work and the devs's choice about it. (which you seem to have a bit disregarded when reading my reply.)

D&D core rules always slowed you while checking for traps, this is kinda a relic of old school table top in case your wondering.

Havent played DnD before, but i have played DOS and Pathfinder where you don't need to walk to find traps. Yes i know they are completely different games but i'm just throwing it out there so you guys can see the experiences i've had with Crpg's :P

This is the exact answer. The Dungeon of Naheulbeuk just replicates the rules.
