Chap 2 Bussiness Partners
OMG im gonna be on this forever, never gonna reach chap 3, considering dry planks only sell for 300 euros each, and in order to keep racking up the money to pay off your uncle, you need to buy more forests, which take away your cash. then theres the equipment you need to buy, so how long does it take to pay off your greedy uncle

So, the stump grinder and tree replanter will only hook up to a new tractor huh? So now the focus is get all new equipment ASAP so WHEN you manage to pay off Uncle Charles you can actually use the stump grinder and tree planter when you buy them?

Welp, that means then I ain't paying the uncle a dime on my debt, or even advancing to Chapter 2, until I've upgraded from the old tractor and log trailer to a new tractor and log trailer then.

As far as the equipment goes, you can just use your social points and get them a lot cheaper. I've not seen any real need to hold on to social points so far in LD. In FD you needed them to hire helpers, get married and have kids. None of that is in LD yet. I'm still on Chapter 2 so I don't know if they are needed beyond that.

Okay, but am I right in assuming that the replanting equipment requires one of the new tractors? So you need to replace the starting tractor and starting trailer ASAP now to be able to replant?

I haven't tried the new equipment yet myself, but I would be pretty confident in stating that it requires one of the newer tractors. This is based on past experience with this game series.

One thought for the Dev's to consider, is to revamp the quest so that once you pay off your uncle you also get his tractor and trailer. As the game updates come out this quest should become easier and faster to do with more options to make money. As it is right now to buy the mill and get new equipment too, your looking at around 350,000 and that's using social points for equipment discount.

Also I wonder if there is any plans for a September festival, like in FD, that you can sell your greenhouse goods and herb potions for double the price?. In FD you can hoard all your stuff until September and make a good hunk of money starting out.

Agree on getting the Uncle's tractor and log trailer once you pay him off. That will make things measurably easier knowing you aren't having to buy EVERYTHING yourself and having to watch the uncle's brand-new tractor and log trailer just sit and collect dust from disuse.

Instead, you get the tractor and trailer from the tutorial now for your own use and so the only equipment now you really NEED to buy brand new besides the flatbed truck is the stump grinder and tree replanter, and you can sell the starting tractor and log trailer to help fund that.

You can also now grow and sell flowers
Merck Jul 19, 2020 @ 7:20am
Yes indeed sunflower seeds are another marketable commodity.

I had got the truck, Lintrack 90 tractor and the grapple trailer before I found out had to pay uncle. So now I've bought 3 forests over the ford by the lumber mill cut them to the ground, full the dryers, sleep a week + 3days then repeat. So far have 118000 euro, so k:steamsad:eep doing the same

Yeh, it takes time, I hope eventually more content/quests/missions/ways of earning money is added for chapter 2

I sowed pumpkins and cucumbers then I caught fish I went into the house to bed and I rested a few times for a week, then I picked the pumpkins and cucumbers I went into the house to the kitchen and cooked and then I sold them. I know this is a trick but the old uncle wants too much money and I saved a little bit of time.

Planting and growing flowers is going to help yes, but we need more to keep us busy so we don't have to take weeks off. At least I would rather not have to do any weeklong resting. Being able to build furniture to sell with planks that can't go into the driers will be a major help hopefully.

It better not be a requirement that we advance to chapter 3 before we can make furniture. We need ways of keeping busy and making money to pay the uncle while the driers are doing their work. That is the biggest bottleneck for me playing right now is staying busy while the driers are doing their thing and the greenhouse is doing its work.

Not really. Per log you gain:
  • 70kg Bark
  • 25kg Saw dust
  • 0.5 Planks
Selling price for Bark is $440/ton, which takes 28.6 logs to acquire.
From these same logs you will get 14 plank crates that are worth $4,200

So once you include all the products for sale:
  • 14 Plank crates = 4,200
  • 1 load of Bark = 440
  • 3.6 OSB crates = 930
You will net a total of 5,570 funds for everything by the time you have the one load of bark ready to haul to market.
okay, so you need 28.6 (!) logs for 5,570 cash... that is 1,283.66 logs to pay off your uncle without a single dime for fuel or any new vehicle.

hell, did they even calculate beforehand?
I would not call this "balanced"

honestly, together with the info that you need to pay off before you can replant trees, that does not make me keen on playing again.

The old trailer from Connor can haul a little over 3000 kg of bark, so 3 tonnes of bark equals about 1,320 cash per haul as long as you wait intil you have 3000-3200 kg of bark per haul.
David Ford Jul 19, 2020 @ 2:24pm
Actually I think the trailer will hold 4250 kg if I remember right.
