It can be played quickly!
After only 26 in game days I was appointed Mayor.

If speed and efficiency is how you play you just need to work out the sequences of the quests. There are others factors that improve your efficiency but I'll leave that for you to discover. Just wanted to let the new players to know that this game is not a complete grind fest. Chapter two is bad for sure but I think the DEV's are working in it.

But if you wanna be a logger like the game says dont get your hopes up right? cause you will be running around the map buying food to cook to get money......sorry but it is a slog if you wanna log like the game title claims

I use the bus to buy food. Much faster than driving and I only go to three markets plus the one up the hill. After the last one I teleport home. I also hit up the nearby coffee shops for milk.

If all you want to do is log, process your logs and store them in garages, barns, under roofs, etc. all over the map. Sleep weeks, you will have a bunch of dry pallets pretty soon. Of course it takes longer as far as in game days, but doesnt take long as far as real life time goes.
I will say the devs put the veggies and animals in the game for a reason though.

I agree with all of this. Keep cutting trees and processing logs; that's the foundation of gameplay. I sense food and friends are a secondary method, that becomes primary for those who aren't playing to chop wood.

We can store planks for drying most anywhere besides the kilns (they will dry eventually in certain covered locations). Sell your materials and invest in more land. We can replant later and lumber stored in the mill will pay off later in the game. Pass the time by watching a movie, live-stream or podcast while playing.

I agree with most of what everyone is saying here. My post is intended as a response to those who think the game is just a boring grind fest. Many of those people don't seem to understand the value of the entire game or how to play it. I have over 1,400 hours in game time as recorded by Steam so I can say I have enjoyed the game but it does have issues.

This game can be played in several different ways, to each his own. I do like the quests that relate to logging, log transport and processing. Working for each piece of equipment in the beginning is rewarding. Sleeping a week over and over again and watching a black screen is not a fun game for me. The Developers could have created more interesting and rewarding logging related quests but they chose instead to accelerate the game process with this sleep a week function. Budget issues negated further development I guess.

I have no interest in sheep quest, transport quests or yard work quests. For me the game ends once you become Mayor so I start a new game.

Ya i have a bunch stored and it really hits the already abysmal performance
but after that I got nuthin....no intrest in saving sheep daily for seeds i can barely use.....I have hundreds of seeds and very small greenhouse I am good on seeds.

Not really intrested in potion making and frankly I fail to understand how this made it into the game its just silly....A better option would have been proper equipment maintaining its like you just have a magic chainsaw never dulls never needs bar oil nuthin...vehicles too just put gas in and gtg

Upgrades seem well whats the point? I mean Basic intermediat and professional ? what does this even mean?

Planting trees is another abysmal task the stump grinder needs work quite frustrating

Dryers are crap at 10% a day there is no good reason for this other than grind

I will happily trade the useless dune buggy for a trailer for the truck :P

cooking is also not very interesting to me but hey i guess a guy has to eat

basicly if your playing "as a logger" it is a waiting for planks to dry simulator

Those global achievement stats also show only about 2/3 of the people own a tractor, and less than half repaired the lumber mill and house. Considering those are some of the first things done, I find those stats odd.

You really can't judge just by global stats alone. I'm sure it can be a good indication but you need to consider that achievements are not giving when playing in offline mode and don't always get rewarded after the fact when the person is online.

I myself play most of the time in offline mode but I'm not worried about achievements. I have many games that I have hundreds of hours playing but by steam hours some show just a few hours playing them.

I am willing to bet from the nasty performance issues with the game most people quit early or refund the game .......It runs very poorly for what it is ......nothing about this game should cause the framerate jumping like it does I mean the vehicles dont even have working mirriors
David Ford Mar 7, 2022 @ 1:45pm
I don't have the frame rate problems you describe, but I will agree that the Dev's could have spent more time polishing the game before dropping it to die. They give a good speech and will say they are working on bugs, but you never see any results from them.

3900X
2070 super 8g
32g gskil
game on a m2 ssd

the frames jump all over the place so I am inclined not to buy your no framerate issues if the game cant hold the 75 i want then its not optimized plain and simple

I have had it into the low 20s storaging the planks for drying the game is just not made to be played this way

Again though I will need to see a video of you playing with your frames holding stable above 60 otherwise it didnt happen!

you know you gotta ask yourself why are devs making games that only use 1-2 cores.....What is the reason? cause even in 2018 its just not cool.....I mean most of us are rocking 8-12 cores nowadays .......also the graphics options in this game are what? for a console cause their presets are very bad maybe if they gave us more control over our GPU we could make things better but you cant your stuck with whatever the dev decided was good:steamfacepalm:
David Ford Mar 7, 2022 @ 4:16pm
I have no reason to lie to you about frame rates I get. I guess I am just lucky not to have that issue. By your specs, we have close to same . Intel Core i7-9700F CPU 3.00 GHz, 2070 super, on just regular HD. I have a SD drive but just have windows on it. 16 GB Ram

I agree with you on the state of the gaming industry these days. Dev's have got lazy and half a@@ do things or put out base game and depend on modders to make a good game out of it.

I can understand that they want to make a game that everyone can run no matter what kind pc they have, but isn't that what options are for? So you can turn up or down settings to fit the needs of the pc you.

So even on gamepass MD has options for the graphics settings not just a slider that is preset......so I dont know what you mean cause this game has no "options" its just a slider and you dont even get to see what the settings are.....This in my opinion is un acceptable from a game today:steamhappy:

I will also add I do not care about people running potatoes games should be made to use my hardware not made so every potato can run it
