There is really no way to test the production prior to repairing the structures, so its really hard to say how much production was prior to any fixing.
But its similar to how fixing opens the sawmill to cutting planks, & the other sawmill complex. Still it would be nice to see an improvement once players fully rebuild their buildings. Even a small increase to production would justify the added rebuilding. Else, other than cosmetics, there is no real reason to do anything other than repairing.
If this game follows the same practice as FD, then there is no further increase to production after upgrading the building with new materials.
This subject has been discussed in the past, & even I have suggested that there should be a bit more increase in production after the building is fully upgraded. A noticeable improvement after repairing building, but then the final increase after the upgrading is done.
Upgrading is purely cosmetic.
