One thing that often causes this issue, is that players are not waiting for the logs to fully attach to the vehicle from the loading claw. There is a bit of quasi-connectivity issue, that there is a little bit of time that the game takes to see that the log is not in the claw anymore, & then fully attached to the vehicle's bed.
If you watch the claw when you drop the log into the vehicles bed, after a second or two, the claw opens. It is at this time that the log is now properly attached to the vehicle, & not in the quasi-floating state.
Driving the thing to the lumber yard in this condition will not be easy. I will not drive it back. I will drive it into the river and leave it if it cannot be sold.
Not a fun drive but it worked. It reminded of when I drove my grandfathers '50 ish truck across the 24 mile Causeway with no steering column bearing and a flat right front.

My Old Log Transporter was somehow pierced through the cabin, from a sliding log ..almost impossible to maneuver any sharp turns ..managed to get down to the lumbermill and sell the curse...!
