There is plans for future addition of making furniture, which many of us are speculating that the chipboard crates will then be used for. But until that feature is added to the game, the only current usage of chipboards is for sale.
You can also sell the Bark (it is in the storage silo on the house side of the lumber mill. There currently is no other usage for bark except for sale.
The game does warn against using wet planks for upgrading. Some though have found that they can use wet planks for some upgrading jobs. But others have reported issues after updates with those buildings they have upgraded with wet planks. Some of us are theorizing that you may not be able to paint the structures after you use the wet planks. Or maybe they will just eliminate the possibility to use wet planks in the future upgrades. We will have to wait & see.
Answered it for me thanks. The sentence I posted above I have seen a few times and didn't understand what it meant. Now I do :)
Although it would be a nice option that the player could offer the NPC's a "deal" by upgrading their structures for a little bit of a extra charge. But I also assume that then this would maybe mess up some future quests?? But even in FD the NPC's would often have quests to upgrade their farm buildings, even though they were already finished. You still got the credit for doing the job, even though all you had to do was to travel to the building to receive a "all done" message.
