I'd suggest the following:
Cut down trees, cut them into planks, get them dried and sell them at the wood market.
You can make quite some money when you take good care for your greenhouse and make sure that you always grow vegetables there. Cook those vegetables and sell the canned food.
Another option might be to go fishing and make canned food from the fishes. It depends on your personal liking what you prefer out of these last two ideas.
Look for daily tasks and go for them. Repair jobs also give you some good money.
Keep in mind that the game isn't designed to become a millionaire in about a week. You're a Lumberjack and you'll need to work hard and stay diligent if you want to make your way up.
About the flatbed truck:
reddog is right, you can buy one at the vehicle dealer west of your home.
Maybe it would have been a good idea to "borrow" the one from the quest a little bit longer. ;)
