How do I make planks?

I've tried searching everywhere and all I see are discussions about DRYING planks, but not how to MAKE planks. I have a lot of logs and no direction on how to cut them into planks. I have the plank driers fixed, but need planks for them to work, all I have are logs.

in the main building where the logs go into to be processed there is a part about the middle of the building where the logs are moved up a slope into the log bin. Below this area is a brown like machine which you need to enable this will send the logs down instead which will then put it through the processor and result in skids/pallets being made and being able to be collected at the rear of the building.

I finally figured out the reason I wasn't getting anywhere with that was a random repair hammer showed back up in an area I'd already fixed, preventing the sawmill part from working, and also preventing me from getting the notice about how to make planks.

Hopefully now this thread is here, it will help many others who might have the same question find their answer.

if you press the tab button you will see an option at the bottom which is statistics which contains all usual information so as the status of your buildings what you have in stock, what is being processed etc.

Yeah, there's a lot on that status screen and I'm just focusing on figuring out things one at a time.

One thing I did experience is this game did get me so into it I completely lost all track of time and stayed up most of the night. Been a while since any game's been able to do that to me. Good sign and hopefully as time goes on they'll fix up the bugs, add in more stuff to make the game even better and others will also enjoy this game like that too!
