It just takes time to make money. We sell wooden boards - how much profit do you expect per day? Diligence and continuity ensure your progress, but gradually and not immediately.
As the game evolves, there will be many other ways to pass the time, which you can use to make your day more varied. But you shouldn't expect to get rich quickly.
Also, I don't think its been changed yet (I haven't really checked recently), the "deal" that the uncle made with you about working the mill & splitting the profit 50/50. So until this is changed, you are just as well off building up your funds, since there is no paying the uncle his half.
Every 10 days you can sell 32 pallets of dry planks for €300 each, netting €9,600. I know, meaningless correction. :)
You are welcome to correct me anytime :-)
I've been doing as many quests as I can as quick as I can. Not buying anything from the stores, except tools that allow me to do quests.
As soon as I was able I switched the sawmill production over to planks and filled the dryers as soon as I could.
After playing for 20hrs I managed to get the Platform truck and as soon as I did I sold everything I had stockpiled.
I have still not felled any of the trees on my home. I found something by mistake that means I didn't have to (won't say what as it felt like something that shouldn't be allowed, going to send the devs a message.) Took a bit of time and legwork, but I still managed to fully fill all my dryers. Do all the construction quests up to John & Mary Quests. Refresh the planks on "vehicle shed" at home and have at 2 1/2 or 3 1/2 loads of chipboard to sell.
I have lots of trees at my home to process and a means to get planks and chipboard that sell for more to the factory (best prices.) I have also started buying ingredients, cooking and selling what I cook. I can now easily afford the nearest forest for sale near my home.
My strategy
Spend as close to nothing as you can
Plant seeds
Stockpile at the lumber-mill
Quest/Missions for money and social points, until I could get something to transport goods.
Now onwards XD
Shame i can't buy seeds lol
Bravo! You’ve got a good attitude about Lumberjack’s Dynasty. Enjoy!
